Build your own Nest Box
May 4 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Free🌟 FREE COMMUNITY EVENT 🌟
A great diversity of Australian wildlife relies on hollow cavities in native trees (known as tree-hollows) to meet their nesting or roosting requirements. Such hollows take hundreds of years to form naturally, but sadly, due to massive land-clearing since European settlement in Australia, countless numbers have been lost.
This plight has had a severe impact on native wildlife, particularly charismatic species like Black Cockatoos.
Further environmental impacts, especially the ever-growing amount of human waste entering landfill, are leading to a decline in many native species, and affecting human health.
Come along learn how to create your very own nest box that you can take home with you.
Note: The Mundaring Garden and Farmers Market has covered the cost of 5 nest-boxes. We welcome people to come along and help to build a nest box, and if you would like to take one home (but miss out on the free one), we can offer a subsidised nest box (normally $80). Reach out to Naomi at the Mundaring Chamber of Commerce to discuss further – president@mundaring.org.au
