The Rewards for Residents scheme is essentially a series of discounts offered to residents and staff of Switch your thinking Councils by program sponsors. Council does not provide funding to sponsors to participate in the program, in fact, sponsors give financial support to Switch your thinking to help develop and deliver a wide range of community environmental projects. All companies have the opportunity to become a sponsor and support local greenhouse action, however only companies who sell environmental/sustainable products or services and pass the selection process can be involved in Rewards for Residents.
Council does not provide funding to sponsors to participate in the project, the discount comes directly from the company selling the product.
Funding provided by corporate sponsorship is used to develop community environmental initiatives such as free workshops web resources on sustainable living and school projects. These projects are delivered to the communities of participating Councils at no cost to participants.
Rewards for Residents works as a "point of sale" discount and therefore is not retrospective.
Rewards for Residents is intended for residential and commercial sales only and cannot be applied to trade purchases. Trade purchases are generally negotiated privately and include bulk purchase prices. Most builders will be able negotiate prices below that of those offered through Rewards for Residents.
