Imagine a garden that is productive, resilient and abundant. Where plants, wildlife, water and people all work together in harmony.  Permaculture is a practical design approach developed in Australia in the 1970s that draws inspiration from natural ecosystems. By observing how nature works, permaculture helps us create greener spaces that are more productive, regenerative, and enjoyable to spend time in.

Join Fiona Blackham for an introduction to the principles of permaculture and discover how to see your garden through a new lens. Learn how thoughtful design can help create thriving outdoor spaces that support biodiversity, conserve resources, and better meet your needs.

Whether you have a new garden, an established backyard, a courtyard or a large block, this workshop will inspire to get started on a permaculture approach:

  • teach you how to read your landscape,
  • understand sectors and zones,
  • analyse the relationships between different elements, and
  • identify practical steps to make your space healthier, more resilient and more connected to nature.

This workshop consists of two parts.

We will begin indoors with an interactive theory session before heading to Inglewood & Mount Lawley Community Garden for morning tea and a hands-on outdoor session where participants should be prepared to spend time on their feet.

Limited seating will be available, so please wear suitable clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather conditions on the day.
