Eating for the Environment

Learn about the impact of your day-to-day food choices & the benefits of eating more minimally processed and plant-based foods.
Do you want to learn how you can improve your health and the environment through your food choices?
In this 1.5-hour workshop, you will discover how our eating habits impact both our health and the environment. This practical and informative session equips you with the knowledge and actionable strategies to reduce the environmental impact of your eating. We cover the impacts of your food choices in terms of the climate, biodiversity and your health and wellbeing.
We then focus on what you can do to make a positive impact by workshopping practical strategies to include more plants in your day to day eating and how small shifts can reduce your environmental impact significantly. You’ll even walk away with recipes that are as delicious as they are nutritious, and of course have a low environmental impact. We then finish with a hands-on activity that show you how to navigate the supermarket, decoding food labels and make informed choices by choosing less processed, more environmentally friendly products.
Our workshops provide you with positive messages, inspiration, and motivation to start making changes today! We focus on small incremental changes that can be integrated into your life. These changes can be built on over time and when combined with your neighbours’ and friends’ efforts, stack up to have long lasting health and environmental benefits!
This workshop is presented by Hannah Bres (Green Nutrition Australia) on behalf of the City of Canning and Switch Your Thinking. All funds received from this event will go towards a prize draw where you have the chance to win an induction cooktop. Those who register are automatically entered into the draw.
