Embedding Sustainable Behaviours at Home – Bassendean
October 4 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pmFree
Many people want to do more to protect the environment and live sustainably but can find it hard to turn that desire into habit. Embedding sustainable behaviours at home can be challenging, even with the best intentions it’s not easy to make changes stick.
Perth based social enterprise The Behaviour Change Collaborative works with government, academia and community to design and deliver behaviour change programs in Australia and overseas. Their skilled presenters draw on learnings from social marketing and the behavioural sciences to provide tips and tools to improve participants’ chances of affecting sustainable behaviour change at home.
In this workshop, The BCC will provide practical tools, hints and strategies to help busy families find easy ways to get quick wins at home. We will simplify the science of behaviour and behaviour change. Participants will learn what a behaviour is (and is not), what influences us to behave the way we do, and how we can use this knowledge to make pro-environmental changes at home.
Whether you’re keen to reduce water use, save power or reduce waste, this workshop will run participants through easy to follow steps toward making sustainable change at home.
Key areas covered will include:
– How to define behavioural goals
– How to establish new sustainable behaviours
– How to turn a new behaviour into a habit
– Tips and tricks for behaviour change (based on evidence of what works)
Workshop participants will leave with a personalised plan to start and embed a new sustainable behaviour at home. Skills learned in this workshop will allow participants to build similar plans for many other pro-environmental behaviours. These plans encourage consistent meaningful action, helping you to live more sustainably!
