FOGO Information session – Belmont Residents

The City of Belmont is transitioning from the two bin system to a three bin kerbside collection system. This will include the roll out of a Food Organics, Garden Organics (FOGO) bin to standard households from early 2024.
The three bin kerbside collection system will include:
A 240L Lime Green Lid FOGO Bin for food and organic waste such as fruit, vegetables, meat and garden trimmings. FOGO will be collected weekly.
A 240L Yellow Lid Recycling Bin for recyclables like plastic bottles, paper, steel cans and glass. Recycling will be collected fortnightly.
A 140L Red Lid General Waste Bin for general rubbish that cannot be composted or recycled, such as nappies and plastic bags. General Waste will be collected fortnightly on alternating weeks with Recycling.
The addition of FOGO bins will turn a further 41% of the City’s household waste into useable materials for re-use and will help to reduce waste in landfill.
In this information session, the City of Belmont FOGO team will help residents get ready for their three-bin system. They’ll be covering the why, what and how of the FOGO transition, plus answering your questions – big and small!
Join the FOGO Crew at the Events Room, Ruth Faulkner Library for a casual, informative session on the City’s transition to FOGO, and what it means for your household.
This educational event is designed to empower our community with knowledge and practical tips to help you embrace FOGO in your home.
The session will include Q&A opportunities, and take-home resources to help you become a FOGO champion.
This event is open to Belmont residents only and registration is necessary!
