February 24 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Join The City of Bassendean for an evening of Clothes Swapping and learning the art of Clothes Mending with the EMRC and Hoop Hoop Hooray to upgrade your wardrobe the sustainable way!

You will also have the opportunity to learn about various different mending techniques to repair and enhance your clothing.

Additionally, also take the opportunity to visit the Bassendean Markets next door at the BIC reserve for food and entertainment on the evening!

A library of clothes will be provided by the ERMC to help kickstart the evening, including tables, racks and hangars.

Attendees are still encouraged to bring along items for trade if they wish. Clothes brought for swapping MUST be clean and in good condition. When bringing items to swap, take a moment to consider what others would be happy to receive.

What to bring in the evening:

  • Clothing items – BOTH male & female accepted.
  • Please NO childrens clothes.
  • Accessories – Hats, scarves, jewelery
  • Shoes

Mending Workshop

At the Town of Bassendean Clothes Swap, Elise Hinkley from Hoop Hoop Hooray will teach visible mending techniques like appliqué, embroidery, and sashiko. The workshop aims to empower participants to enhance their repair and transformation skills. All skill levels are welcome to learn and share practical tips with a community of like-minded individuals passionate about the art of mending.

What you’ll get:

• All workshop materials (including Sashiko needle and thread) and notes so that you can continue mending and revamping your clothes at home.

What to bring:

• Hopefully, an item you’ve found at the clothes swap!

• Embellishments (buttons, patches, fabrics etc) that are meaningful to you – not a requirement.

• Your imagination and enthusiasm!
