Habitat Project Show and Tell

What will be your New Year’s resolution for 2025? Whether it’s learning a skill, being more thrifty, helping the environment, or getting a new look, Library Services has got you covered! Join us for our free “Jump-start January” workshop series at the Libraries.
Many wildlife species local to the City of Gosnells rely on natural hollows in old trees to survive. These hollow-dependent species can include bats, possums and gliders, various birds, frogs, and some reptiles. Unfortunately, old trees and the hollows they provide are becoming increasingly rare.
Habitat boxes can help to support urban wildlife populations that have been impacted by environmental degradation. They can also help provide a solution in situations of human-wildlife conflict.
Join us at Gosnells Library for a presentation by volunteers from the Darling Range Wildlife Shelter. The DRWS volunteers will present a Show and Tell about their work on the Habitat Project, which aims to promote the installation and use of Habitat Boxes in urban areas.
Attendees will learn about Habitat Boxes, how they help to protect and support local hollow-dependent wildlife, and how they can be installed in your garden or yard.
Volunteers will also bring along a selection of Habitat Boxes to the presentation, which will be available for purchase by the public. The Darling Range Wildlife Shelter has a range of Habitat Boxes available, suitable for species including possums, ducks, parrots, bats, and owls.
All sales of Habitat Boxes will provide funds for the DRWS’s work in wildlife rehabilitation.
Adults only.
Bookings are essential, and open to the public on the 5th of January 2025.
