Thinking Green: Refashioning men’s button-down shirts

Please note that this is a program for adults and young people aged 16 and over and is a hands-on workshop. Photographs and videos may be taken of the event. Please book one ticket for each person attending.

While creating your project, this workshop presented by local upcycler Mariana Kirova of EcoFashionSewing.com will uncover material specifics, tips on how to work with colour and pattern, clever tricks on utilising the leftovers and creating with zero-waste in mind, insights on how to turn mistakes into design features and more. Participants will be asked to bring a couple of shirts and make the class project while learning and practicing new skills.

Skill requirements: This hands-on workshop involves machine sewing, so you’ll need to know how to thread and use your sewing machine beforehand in order to participate and do the class project.

What equipment to bring: Attendees are highly encouraged to bring their own sewing machine, but if that is not possible, there will be a sewing machine available for sharing. All participants will need to bring a basic sewing kit containing items such as coordinated threads, scissors, and other notions (details will be communicated via email beforehand).

What materials to bring: Participants will need to bring three button-down shirts to create their class project (all details will be communicated via email). Some shirts may be also available to purchase for a small fee at the day of the workshop.
