Melville – 2023 Eco Action Expo

October 1, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Free

Join us on Sunday, 1 October for City of Melville’s inaugural Eco Action Expo! With a wide variety of stallholders, activities, things to buy, and lots to learn there will be something for everyone.

We’ve all heard that the planet is in trouble – climate change, extinction events, increasing natural disasters, floating piles of plastic…it can be really overwhelming and hard to know what or if there is anything we can do. This expo will celebrate and promote the action being taken locally and show the ways that we can make a difference in our own homes and everyday lives. There is a tendency to talk about “taking action for the future” but in reality we need to take action now. If you love gardening, are interested in house design or renovations, are looking for ways to connect to your local community, are passionate about wildlife, want to empower your kids or any combination of the above, we’d love to see you there!

What to expect:

  • Stallholders on a variety of topics (exhibitor list will be published at a later date)
  • Kids activity zone
  • Food and drinks
  • Plants for sale
  • Wildlife meet and greet
  • Art activities
  • Short presentations/workshops
  • Gardening demonstrations

Please be aware that the majority of this event will be held within an indoor venue, so unfortunately dogs can not be accommodated.

Note – this event is on one date (1st of October) however there are two timeslots you can choose from on the bookings page:

  • 10 AM – 12 PM
  • 12 PM – 2 PM

Waste:

This is a waste wise event. Please bring your own water bottle and keep cup.

Transport:

This event will take place at Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre in Winthrop.

We have limited parking, so please consider how you can arrive by alternative transport. If you live locally why not cycle or walk?

There are bus-stops on Leach Hwy and Bull Creek Train Station is close by – plan your journey with public transport https://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/Journey-Planner

If you need to drive, please carpool with friends and family. Note that our Leach Hwy Carpark only has 45 bays. (If this carpark is full you are welcome to drop off passengers and staff will be able to direct you to alternative parking.) If you park in the surrounding suburbs or at the alternative car park on Murdoch Drive, it is only a ten minute walk to the centre. There will also be a 12-seater shuttle running to and from Murdoch Drive Carpark. Staff will be onsite at both parking locations to answer any queries.

To get to the Leach Hwy Carpark (by car):

  • Heading westbound on Leach Hwy – after Murdoch Drive stay left and take the first slip lane.
  • If you are on the eastbound lanes on Leach Hwy (coming from Melville or Fremantle area) – stay in the righthand lane to continue across Murdoch Drive and then use the designated U-turn location to move to the westbound lanes. Staying left, go back through the lights at Murdoch Drive and take the first slip lane into the reserve.
