Planting a Verge Garden – Why? How?

May 10 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

$5

Keep your street cool and support the local environment by transforming your front verge into a thriving garden!

Did you know that Perth has the lowest amount of tree canopy than any other Australian capital?

Planting a verge with low growing plants, either native or even vegetables, can help address the Urban Heat Island effect caused by loss of tree canopy and installation of hard stand roads, concrete and paving.

Find out what you can do to change your verge into a thriving and beautiful site that helps cool down your street and attracts a bounty of diverse life.

This workshop’s topics will include the benefits of verge planting with native species, how to get started, council regulations and council assistance to plant verges through the Plants to Residents program.

Bring your family and friends along and get motivated by the stunning native plants you can grow on your verge. Turn your home into a patch of paradise and help reduce the heat on your street!

This workshop is presented by Robyn Brown (Waste is my Resource) on behalf of Switch Your Thinking and the City of Kalamunda.

All funds received from this event will go towards a sustainability prize draw where you have the chance to win an induction cooktop. Those who attend are entered into the draw.

Please note that should you need to cancel, we require at least 24 hours notice to issue a refund. Please also be aware that the refund will not be the full amount as ticket fees are included in the price.
