Mundijong Library has become a recycling hub to save household items from ending up in landfill.

Mundijong Library has become a recycling hub to save household items from ending up in landfill.

Partnering with recycling and upcycling pioneers TerraCycle, Mundijong Library is participating in a free nationwide program to help reduce waste.

During regular Library open hours (see below) community members and library staff are encouraged to drop off used:

  • Contact lenses and blister packs
  • Empty personal care and beauty packaging
  • Empty toothpaste tubes, used toothbrushes, plastic toothbrush packaging, interdental brushes, wisps, pumps and stand up toothpaste bottles (not for electric toothbrushes)
  • Whole Kids empty food pouch and snack wrappers
  • Mailing satchels
  • Tea and coffee capsules

These tricky to recycle items will be sent to TerraCycle to be transformed into benches, picnic tables, playgrounds and a vast array of other products.

In a double win for the environment and community, TerraCycle donates funding to charitable and non-for-profit groups for each kilogram of waste recycled.
